Converting Vistana Points to Marriott: What’s Documented

Short answer

Vistana Signature Network and Marriott Vacation Club are sister timeshare programs under Marriott Vacations Worldwide (MVW acquired Vistana in 2018). They use different currencies — StarOptions vs. Vacation Club Points — and Marriott/Vistana do not publish a public ownership-conversion ratio between them. We are not inventing one. You may be able to use Abound by Marriott Vacations for exchanges; any Club Points you receive for a given contract are shown in the owner portal, not on a public multiplier.

Same family, two currencies

Live TPV pages already state the corporate fact: Marriott Vacations Worldwide acquired Vistana Signature Network (formerly Starwood Vacation Ownership) in 2018. Vistana now sits alongside Marriott Vacation Club under MVW. That is a parent-company fact, not a point-for-point conversion.

Neither of those is Marriott Bonvoy, the hotel loyalty program. See timeshare points vs. hotel loyalty points.

Why this page does not publish a ratio

We fetched Marriott Vacation Club and Abound materials. Marriott documents that Vistana (VSN) members may elect use into the Abound exchange program and receive Club Points for that election — and that any conversion of affiliate-program points into exchange points can vary by program at Marriott's discretion. That is not a public, fixed StarOptions-to-Destination-Points ownership ratio.

Crowd-sourced sales-presentation numbers on third-party blogs are not Marriott documentation. Publishing one would be inventing a ratio. If your owner portal shows an election for your contract, use that figure — not a number from this page.

What you can do instead

  • Use the points as StarOptions. Book Vistana inventory, or check the owner portal for Abound / cross-system availability.
  • Estimate rental value. Live TPV rates for StarOptions are $0.025–$0.055 each — already on the Point Values Index and the Vistana worth page. That is rental value, not a conversion rate.
  • Do not assume a cash buyer will convert them. Timeshare Rental Pros does not currently purchase Vistana StarOptions.

Frequently asked questions

Can I convert Vistana StarOptions to Marriott Vacation Club points?

Vistana and Marriott Vacation Club are in the same Marriott Vacations Worldwide family, but they remain separate ledgers. Marriott and Vistana do not publish a public StarOptions-to-Destination-Points ratio. Any election into Abound Club Points is contract-specific and shown in the owner portal — not a number we can invent here.

What is the Vistana to Marriott conversion ratio?

There is no public official ratio for turning StarOptions into Marriott Vacation Club Destination Points. Third-party blogs quote sales-presentation numbers; those are not Marriott documentation. This page does not publish a ratio.

Are Vistana points the same as Marriott Bonvoy?

No. StarOptions are timeshare ownership currency. Marriott Bonvoy is the hotel loyalty program for Marriott International, a separate company from Marriott Vacations Worldwide since 2011. Live TPV pages already treat them as different systems.

Did the 2018 merger give Vistana owners MVC points?

No. Live TPV copy already states Vistana now operates under MVW alongside Marriott Vacation Club, and that the underlying systems remain distinct. Standard Vistana owners kept StarOptions.

Are Vistana points a Timeshare Rental Pros supported program?

No. Timeshare Rental Pros does not currently purchase Vistana StarOptions. Owners who want cash typically self-rent or use the resale market for the deed.
