Club Wyndham vs. Diamond Resorts: Which Has Better Exit Options? (2026)

Club Wyndham and Diamond Resorts are both large U.S.-based points programs, but Diamond carries a much heavier reputational and structural overhang. Wyndham's Ovation program is widely regarded as the cleanest brand-direct exit in the industry. Diamond — now operating under Hilton Grand Vacations via HGV Max — has tighter take-back rules and a slower resale market.

The verdict

Which is better?

Club Wyndham wins decisively for owners thinking about an eventual exit. Ovation will take fully-paid contracts back free in most cases. Diamond Clarity is more restrictive and Diamond contracts trade for $0–$1,000 on the resale market even with large allocations. Diamond per-point rental value is nominally higher ($0.08–$0.18 vs Wyndham's $0.005–$0.012), but the practical secondary-market liquidity is worse. For new buyers, neither is great — but if you already own, Wyndham gives you more options to unwind.

Which one fits you?

Pick Wyndham when:

  • You may want to exit within 10 years — Ovation is far easier than Diamond Clarity
  • You want the broadest resort network (230+ vs 70+)
  • You prefer larger point counts you can deploy flexibly
  • You can use credit pool / borrowing across years

Pick Diamond when:

  • You specifically want Sedona or Williamsburg-area properties
  • You're buying resale at a deep discount and accept the exit limitations
  • You're an existing Diamond owner — HGV Max integration adds upside over time
  • Higher per-point rental value matters more than exit flexibility
