Timeshare Points vs Cash: What a Year Is Actually Worth

By The Timeshare Points Value EditorsReviewed September 20265 min read
Short answer

Timeshare points are worth 0.4¢–$19 per point on the secondary rental market in 2026, depending on the program. Disney Vacation Club has the highest per-point value ($13–$19). That cash range is secondary-market rental value for a year’s allocation — not what a hotel would charge you at the desk, and not a Timeshare Rental Pros offer. Disney Vacation Club sits at $13–$19 per point; Marriott Vacation Club 35¢–90¢; Club Wyndham 0.5¢–1.2¢; Westgate 0.4¢–1¢. Paying cash for a comparable week can be higher or lower than that rental number. This page is not the “can I sell points for cash” how-to.

Cash here means rental cents, not the front desk

Owners search “points vs cash” expecting a hotel comparison. This site publishes secondary-market rental value from the Point Values Index (last reviewed August 2026). Multiply your annual allocation by that range. That is the cash number we will stand behind. We do not invent nightly hotel stickers.

Disney Vacation Club $13–$19 per point is in a different league from Club Wyndham 0.5¢–1.2¢. A 200-point DVC Use Year is estimated $2,600–$3,800 rental cash. A 200,000-point Club Wyndham year is estimated $1,000–$2,400. Same word “points.” Different cash.

Three cash piles owners mix up

  • This year’s rental cash — allocation × catalog cents. The comparison on this page.
  • Deed resale cash — most legacy contracts $0–$2,500. DVC is the exception and still is not a rental-cents product.
  • A buyer-service offer — Timeshare Rental Pros, our affiliate, may quote supported programs. That quote is not the Index range. Westgate and Vistana are unsupported.

Frequently asked questions

Are timeshare points worth more than paying cash for a hotel?

Only if you actually book a stay you would have paid cash for, or if a year’s rental value covers your dues. Catalog rental cents (DVC $13–$19; Marriott 35¢–90¢; Club Wyndham 0.5¢–1.2¢) are not hotel rack rates. A peak week you would have booked anyway can beat cash. Points you let expire are worth $0 against cash.

What does “timeshare points vs cash” mean on this site?

It means: take your annual allocation times the published Point Values Index range. That product is estimated rental cash for the year. It is not resale of the deed ($0–$2,500 for most legacy contracts; DVC excepted) and it is not a guaranteed buyer-service check.

Is a cash hotel stay cheaper than using my points?

Often yes on off-season inventory at high-fee, low-cents programs (Westgate 0.4¢–1¢). Often no at DVC, where owner-side rental already runs $13–$19 per point. Run allocation × catalog cents, then compare to the cash rate you would actually pay — not a brochure “up to” rate.

Does Timeshare Rental Pros pay the catalog cash number?

No. Catalog cents are secondary-market rental ranges last reviewed August 2026. A TRP cash offer, when they buy a supported program, is a separate quote. TRP does not buy Westgate or Vistana. Unsupported brands stay on the existing /get-quote form.
